As one of the most important photoelectric device, intensifier plays an important role in LLL area. Because the photocathode is crucial part of intensifier, so the performance of intensifier is dependent on photocathode. Lots of researches had been done in the methods of spectral response test. Accordingly, many kinds of spectral response testing system have been developed. However, nearly every testing system is limited in visible light area. In order to enlarge testing range and support advanced equipment for photocathode performance test, a broad spectral response testing system has been presented. This system is not only able to test visible-light intensifier but also UV and Near-Infrared intensifier. As a result, it can provide foundation for producing technics improvements of different kinds of photocathode.By learning mature technologies from both home and abroad, this paper studied the achievement of broad response test system sponsored by National Defense Research Project. Main jobs are summarized below:First, test method of cathode response is studied on the basis of analysis of photoelectric emission principle and spectral response properties. The testing scheme has been put forward, meanwhile influent factors of spectral response has been analyzed.Second, the framework of system has been established. Hardware layout and circuit test of the system have been accomplished later. Then the communication between monochromator and computer is completed by using RS232 serial. Finally, testing software has been developed based on VC++ 6.0. Consequently, the function of system is nearly perfect.Third, groups of test have been done for several kinds of intensifier. The paper studied curves' spectral response properties on the basis of data. Then, the difference between practical results and theoretical results has been analyzed.Last, all jobs in this paper have been summarized. Future improvements have also been put forward.
