Among plenty kinds of Metro technology, Metro CWDM technology becomes one of the most competitive solutions due to its character of low cost, high bandwidth, service transparent, simple and flexibility.From the point of view of technology,CWDM has soft spot obvious,its distance for transmission and numbers of channels are much less than DWDM.However,market is not only drived by the technology,but also by the important reason—cost.In Metro Area Network,because the demand of bandwith for MAN is limited,the consumer's requirement don't achieve the capability of communication for long-distance backbone network.In another way,the MAN ISP internet can't pay for the costly charge for DWDM equipments.So CWDM can solve the ISP internet's extremely urgency as a optional project for enlarge the capability.Coarse WDM system is a system which suit for Broad Band Metro Area Network.This technology is developing,and has a very well foreground.China is building the Broad Band IP Network now,adopt CWDM technology in good time can reduce the cost and promote the development of MAN.The thesis brings forward that DWDM technology has a lot of localizations in optical MAN, discusses the CWDM technology's birth and development and analyses CWDM's advantage compare with DWDM technology.At last,based the CWDM technic demand,we have designed a function board which is very important in CWDM system—Wavelenth Adapter.In this thesis,we call it WLA for short.Then the thesis put forward a plan of hardware design of WLA board, including: the design of function blocks, the layout for function blocks, the choice of chipsets,the design of electrocircuits, the definition of FPGA, the protection of transmission and performance monitoring.At last,based the agreements and standards which are all-purpose internationally,we have instituted the test measure for WLA's performances.After the testing,it proves that this test measure can indicates whether the WLA board works normally. At last,the thesis summarizes the work which have been done and brings forware a tentative plan for farther amelioration.
