AOI (Automatic Optical Inspection) is one of the most important inspection instruments. It has many advantages, such as remote inspection, high inspection speed, nondestructive inspection and so on. In this design, AOI is used to inspect PCB products. PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) Express is a new bus agreement developed in recent years. This design puts PCI Express bus into use in the AOI, which has not been reported in China as far as we known. The AOI's competition is greatly improved for its transmiting and processing speed, real time, and the performance to price ratio.In this dissertation, an image acquisition system, including an image acquisition card, a driver under Windows 2000 and application software, has been designed. In this design, CCD camera, which is composed of the CCD chips, A/D conversion and data storage module, outputs digital signal, completing the optical imaging. The acquision and transmission of the imag are controlled by FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) , and the image data are put into the memory. At last, the data is transmitted to the computer through PCI Express bus.In this dissertation, the hardware of the system is proposed. The software and its code, which are designed refer to the Image collecting system, are explained in detail as well.The driver is programmed in DDK,with DMA transmission of the data and supporting PnP. The application software is programmed by VC6.0 with friendly interface.The system can work stably,and can satisfy the requirement of instant image acquisition. Because the hardware and the driver are designed independently,there is much space for further design. Meanwhile,the independence of the technology makes it much cheaper. What's more, the system meets the requirement of high speed, real-time and high precision. Then the precision and effectiveness of Automatic Opotic Instrument could be enhanced greatly , and the problems troubling the PCB inspection may be solved conveniently.
