In the band of millimeter wave, the Fourth Harmonic mixer with anti-parallel diode pair (APDP) need the LO whose frequency is only 1/4 of the radio frequency, so it can use the microwave source whose technology is maturer and cost is lower than millimeter wave source.Bescouse of this, this structure of mixer is boardly used in millimeter wave systems.Principle of mixer has been simply introduced in this paper and the large-signal theoretical analysis of fourth harmonic mixer based on switch model of diodes has been introduced for the first time. The result shows that the minimum conversion loss was more than 8.6dB and maximum output power compression point of 1-dB is only a little less than -10dBm.In this paper, the process of design and execution of the single and dual structure of the fourth harmonic up- conversion has been introduced, the idea of harmonic reflection of LO has been Proposed. The key component is MA4E2039 of M/A-COM Company which is GaAs beam lead schottky barrier anti-parallel diode pair diodes. Computer aid design softwares like ADS and HFSS have been used in the design. Microstrip BPF, LPF and match circuit has been designed, and the whole design was simulated and optimized in ADS. The simulated result and measured result was given in the paper. The measured results show that the conversion loss of single and dual structure is less than 11.8dB and 12.9dB, respectly, when the LO frequency is 8.5GHz and its power is 10dBm and the IF frequency is DC to 2GHz and the RF frequency is 34GHz to 36GHz.
