The key technology of millimeter wave expansion module for spectrum analyzer is studied in this thesis, which is used for extending the range of the spectrum analyzer in our lab. The main jobs are listed as follows:1. The principle and structure of the millimeter wave expansion module is explained, and a plan is chosen among several realizing methods of the millimeter wave expansion module, that is W-band mixer and W-band frequency multiplier.2. A W-band single-balanced mixer is designed and measured, Utilizing finline-suspended microstrip structure. Firstly, its three-dimensional electromagnetic simulation model is established in HFSS; and then its hybrid circuit model is simulated and tuned in ADS. The simulation result indicates that, when LO signal with the power of 9 dBm is injected, the conversion loss of the mixer is 6.5~10.6 dB in the RF frequency band 104~112 GHz. Finally, the mixer is processed and measured. The measurement result becomes worse, so the possible reasons are given.3. A W-band single-diode frequency doubler is designed and simulated. This design is based on the model of varactor diode MA46H146. The simulation result indicates that, when LO signal with the power of 20 dBm is injected, the output power reaches the peak 10.8dBm at 96GHz, and the peak conversion efficiency is about 12%.
