Recently, MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technology makes use of multipath interference through multiple antennas array at transmitter/receiver to elevate the capacity and spectrum efficiency of the digital communication system. Space-time coding is one of effective measures to improve the MIMO system performance. Space-time coding can improve the spectrum efficiency of the wireless communication system without additional spectrum and transmit power. Otherwise, in the actual MIMO mobile communication system, the existent Space-Time Codes can not achieve the optimal performance because of the spatial correlated channel. In the paper, the system structure, design criterion and performance index are summarized and analyzed. Theoretical analysis and computer simulation are done in the MIMO wireless communication environment. A whole Space-Time Codes transmitter/receiver system is set up on Matlab platform and the performance of existent Space-Time Codes is analyzed in the system model. On the basis of existent Space-Time Codes designed for MIMO spatial correlated channel, we present a precoding Space-Time Code with Power Allocation for spatial correlated MIMO channel. Furthermore, differential space time coding is introduced when it is difficult to estimate the channel information. According to the PEP of the ML detection, an initial matrix of DSTC is designed to improve the BER performance in spatial correlated MIMO system. Meanwhile, it has the effect of the beam-forming and power allocation. Our results confirm that in addition to ensuring maximizing the capacity of MIMO system, this scheme can improve the bit-error performance of the MIMO system with spatial correlated channel.
