Fpga-based Digital Image Processing System Hardware Design And Realization

Along with the development of science and technology and constantly expanding of the image processing field, there is the higher demand of the small image processing system, and it will become the future trend. In order to achieve the requirements of small-scale system, it used the FPGA+DSP proposal.FPGA in the system as the main image collection control part and complete image preprocessing, effectively reduce the burden of the DSP. Because of the outstanding performance in complex logic operation, FPGA becoming the preferred system control chip.This paper described the overall image processing system consists, detailed dicussed the FPGA's internal logic design and introduced the SAA7113 image dcoding chips applicationgs in image processing system. The FPGA's internal logic design is the focus and core in this paper. During the image acquisitiong process, it involved a lot of video images related standards, various video formats, and image processing knowledge. All above, it has done in the text. During the initialization of the SAA7113, it will use the I2C. So, it described the detail of I2C bus, and simulation I2C bus controller within the FPGA. FPGA internal logic design includes: I2C control module, histogram statistics module, image resolution and transformation of the grayscale image processing module. In conclusion, the article also inroduced the cache which is used in image acquistion process——ping-pang structure of the cache.Through the simulation and the actual operation, it proved that the design and implementation is simple, stable operation, and can meet the requirements of the real-time image processing.
