We set up an image compression Engine for the 2.4~m telescope remote observing system. In this paper, the software with wavelet image compression and the process of algorithm devising is given out.The astronomy image has high resolution , weak local correlation and huge data quantity. Its compression method needs not only high compression ratio, low distortion,but also need fast compression speed and high reliability. After analysing the characteristic of astronomy image and comparing the general compression methods,the compression based on wavelet transform is used in this thesis.Our investigation shows that wavelet transform compression has its pitfull when used on astronomy image compression, so the way to solve these pitfull is given out in the paper.At the end of this paper,we give out the software architecture for 2.4~m telescope network observing, and the testing result is also given out.
