Based on the researchful object panchromatic remote sensing image, the primarypurpose of this dissertation is to study compression based on integer wavelet transform for panchromatic remote sensing image and real time of this compression algorithm.On account of large amount, abundant information, high value and high data rate, the burden of imaging system for image storage and image transmission is increased, the performance of imaging system is reduced. The effective dada compression will become necessary means of improving performance of imaging system for space remote sensor.The statistical characteristic, similarity and statistical characteristic in wavelet transform field for panchromatic remote sensing image is studied and concluded that the entropy and correlation of panchromatic remote sensing image is lesser than ordinary natural image, that is not propitious to compression in spatial field according to informatics, but the interband correlation and intraband correlation of wavelet coefficients in wavelet transform field provide probability for compression of panchromatic remote sensing image.The augmented zerotree coding (AZ) based on EZW and bit plane coding (BP) is studied on integer wavelet transform. Used both advantage of AZ and BP, a new embedded coding algorithm AZBP that is suitable for progressive compression till lossless image compression is presented. Lossy compression algorithm and lossless compression algorithm is unified for image.The performance and compression effect of different embedded wavelet compression algorithms analyzed in detail, the lossy compression algorithm of listless SPIHT based integer wavelet transform is proposed. By means of Visual C++ thisalgorithm is realized and compression results is given. The low memory, low complexity, short runtime and similar compression effect to SPIHT and JPEG2000 is proved. Perfect compression effect of this technique in application for panchromatic remote sensing image is acquired. The requried memory and complexity are reduced by improving of algorithm, witch advances reconstruction quality of compressed image and is beneficial to hardware realization.The proposed compression algorithms, tested results and improving of compression algorithm are significant for development of spatial imaging system and other image transmission system.
