That the CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) mobile communication network , which belonging to CHINA Unicom Company, demands to clock synchronization is very strict. The network system must choose a reference clock source as network clock source, and now the BTS (Base Transceiver Station) of CDMA network only use GPS (Globe Position System) to supply clock signal (include time and frequency signal) to the radio part. But GPS have been controlled by U.S. Department of Defense, we can not ensure the credibility of the GPS especiallyin the special times. It is very important to improve the system.Considering the experience and technology in the area of synchronization ,we hasanalyzed the main four global positioning system and finally selected GLONASS (Globe Navigation Satellite System) as a backup mechanism for GPS, after we obtained the project duty of CHINA Unicom. We have set up the project research and development team to make each module design of the whole system. We obtained a high degree of stability of the clock signal to replace other manufacturer's Single-GPS receivers in the BTS, by using clock controlling technology which we are expert in. This program can improve the security and stability of the BTS and the whole CDMA communication network. Besides, we have made a detailed system testing program and have carried on the instruction to CHINA Unicom's Testers. Finally, all performance of the system has reached the CDMA network's request.
