Optical Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) is one of the important access technologies for the future satellite optical communication and satellite network. It has the characteristics of asynchronous random access, and the same channel can be shared by many simultaneous users. It can keep combating interference, security, soft capacity and simply network protocol. At the same time, it also can utilize the huge bandwidth of satellite optical communication systems. However, the satellite optical CDMA communication system is power limited. Based on the characteristics of space environment and satellite optical communication, it's important to study the system performance and the key technologies of satellite optical CDMA communication system.In this paper, we mainly study the system performance and key technologies of satellite optical CDMA communication system. Based on the characteristics of different address codes and encoder/decoders, the AWG encoder/decoders for satellite optical CDMA communication system have been designed. With the new development of optical CDMA communication technologies, the satellite optical CDMA communication scheme is presented. Considering different affecting factors, the system model and system performance of satellite optical CDMA communication system are studied and analyzed. With FBG encoder/decoder, space optical CDMA experiment system with time/frequency address codes was set up. In the end, a new method for satellite optical network is presented and analyzed.The characteristics and the state of arts of the satellite optical CDMA communication are summarized, and the main contents of this paper are given. The communication principle, basic structure and key technologies of satellite optical CDMA communication system are analyzed.The address codes principle and the characteristics of different encoders/decoders are discussed. Based on the principle and characteristics of AWG, different AWG encoders/decoders are designed. In the satellite optical CDMA communication system with broadband light, the technology of optical coupling from space to single mode fiber is studied.Considering different affecting factors, the system model and system performances of satellite optical CDMA communication system are analyzed. The effect of atmospheric turbulence and tracking and pointing error on the system performances are analyzed. To reduce the effect of MAI on satellite optical CDMA communication system performance, a new parallel interference cancellation (PIC) with additional information is presented. And the performances of satellite optical CDMA communication system with this technique are analyzed.Different multiplexing techniques used in optical network are studied and analyzed. A new satellite optical network scheme with WDM/OCDMA is presented, and the network performances are analyzed.Based on the FBG encoder/decoder, we have set up a space optical' CDMA communication system, demonstrated two dimensional time/frequency experiment with different users. The decoding signals of different users are measured and analyzed. By this experiment, the characteristics of the FBG encoder/decoder are proved.Finally, we bring out the improved means and the following work of Satellite optical CDMA communication system.
