With the rapid development of computer technology,from 21 century, computer technology is entering the era of full of opportunity.That is Post-PC-Era.In this era, embeded technology has been well developed.It has been widely used in fields of scientific research, engineering design, military technology, commerce entertainment etc.It is the main force of development of IT field in Post-PC-Era.Embeded Geography Information System is an integration of embedded products and GIS,and a combination of embedded software and embedded hardware.It is an ideally solution of navigation,location,geography information query and spatial data management for mobile users.The paper first inrtroduces the development of embedded GIS industry and the conditions of related topics.Then analyze the embedded operation system, the project of eCos-based of embedded GIS was proposed . After that, the basic structure of embedded GIS and its function is analyzed.Then description the establish of cross-developing enviroment in detail.It describ the transplantation of eCos in detail and give the example of it .And it also introduce the driver development give the USART driver as the example.And add the support for framebuffer device in eCos and transplant microwindows.Then test the system and practically proves the applicability of the system, summarize the project. Finally, the value of this topic, as well as improvement measures will be discussed.
