Pulse Skipping Modulation (PSM) is a new modulation method in the power integrating circuit, which is also an important content in the PSoC (Power System on Chip).In this thesis, based on the optimized PSM modulation model, a step-up DC-DC converter is designed. The parameters include efficiency up to 80%, and the ripple voltage is less than 30mV. To finish those destinations, this control chip contains Enable control, Voltage Reference, Current Reference, Oscillator, Current Sense, Current-limited Comparator, Over Temperature Protect, Output Voltage Comparator, Digital Control and Power MOSFET Driver. The chip is realized in a 0.5μm 2P3M (Double Polysilicons Triple Metals) Mixed-Signal CMOS process. Then the chip is packaged and tested. Measurements show that the chip reaches the goal.The first chapter provides an overview of the background and the summarization of PSM modulation with three methords of improvement. The second chapter presents the principle of PSM under Boost converter and the system block diagram. The third chapter emphasizes the circuits the author mainly charged, including Voltage Reference, Over Temperature Protect, Sequence Check, Output Voltage Comparator. The fourth chapter covers the layout design, and the measurements are given.For Voltage Reference, the traditional bandgap reference is introduced first. Second, some new low voltage low power dissipation reference structures are presented. Third, an improved structure is proposed, which improves the temperature compensation. The simulation results verify the analysis.For Over Temperature Protect, a CMOS thermal-shutdown circuit with low process variation was presented, which has simple structure; low operation voltage; and the temperature hysteresis can be easily accommodated. HSPICE simulation shows that the circuit has excellent capability of power supply rejection and process insensitivity.
