Digital Organisms Streaming Media Source Processor

Currently the main services that Streaming Media application provides are Video On Demand(VOD) and Broadcast.Traditional Broadcast service is based on the technology of multicast.An emergency need is to store the broadcasting data while receiving.Recently,VOD has combined peer-to-peer technology to the traditional C/S mode.So,there comes two problems.The first problem is how to divide the source files into slices in order to transport in p2p network.The second problem is how to give the insurance that clients can watch the film in a short time after receiving the data slices.To resolve the problems above,the 8010 lab of UESTC has developed the Streaming Media Original Data Handler(SMODH).SMODH consists of two parts:the File Maker and the File Converter,which form rap4 file and divide source file into data slices respectively.The contributions of this thesis are mentioned below:1) Parsed the format of standard MP4 file and analyzed the real-time streaming protocols,such as RTP/RTCP,RTSP and etc;2) Designed the frame of File Maker.Solved the problems encountered while developing,such as A/V synchronization,constructing video frames, extracting audio units and so on;3) Allowed the File Maker to receive data from a number of multicast channels and store them into standard MP4 files.Made proper changes on the relative locations of A/V data inside the file to make it more suitable to streaming servers;4) Designed the frame of File Converter;5) Gave proper definition to the slices and the index file.Set up a directory after conversion including the SDP file,the index file and maybe a number of slice files;In short,File Maker can receive the multicasting data and store it into a standard MP4 file.What's more,File Maker can store the data in interleaved way,by which the streaming server can improve memory utility rate,the I/O speed and the loading capability.This is a creative point of this thesis.The File Converter def'mes the format of data slices which contained synchronized A/V data and provides data slices for p2p transportation.
