At present, the bandwidth of user access network has become an important bottleneck which restricts the development of Internet. However, EPON (ethernet passive optical network) solution,which simultaneously has a PON and many merits of Ethernet, can fully meet the prominent high-bandwidth demand for user access network.It is becoming a popular technology in the field of user access network increasingly. Access Control List (ACL) can flexibly customize various conditions for Internet users. ACL can play a crucial role in the way of protecting the security of network data, the legality of user's data, and taking good use of network bandwidth and etc. As a bran-new access technology, EPON's hardware architecture entirely differ from the traditional access solutions, so how to design and implement the software function for the system operation is a problems which EPON system must solve. On the basis of specific hardware architecture of EPON, this paper analyzs the software implementation of management layer of ACL module, comes up with one solution that fit itself to the system and vary itself from the traditional ACL implementation, and fulfills the ACL software design on the specific EPON platform in the end.After function verification and system joint test, this implementation has already run stably in the EPON platform, which is based on this article. This EPON platform has been put into commercial market.
