Based On The Pro / E Open 3d Parts Library System

Parts Library is an important component of the CAD system, and it is the base of computer-aided design and manufacturing, computer data integration, and advanced manufacturing technology. Parts Library that is widely used in the CAD system has important significance in improving the quality of parts design and management, reducing the workload of designers, and shortening the design cycle and increasing the standardization of the design.This thesis is a probe into the Open Parts Library System based on the analysis of the ease of use, open structure and portability of the parts library, synthesizing such technological means as the second development of CAD and feature modeling, database, and parametric design, etc.The main content includes several parts as follows.1. According to the 3-dimensional digital definition of the parts and the feature modeling, we build various parameterized models of parts in Pro/E. By using the parameter mapping mechanism, we develop the tool for building part library.2. After the detailed analysis of the function of the system, the three-layers structure based on the MVC is designed from both the ease of use and portability perspectives.3. Based on a reasonable classification of the parts in the library and the main parameters information model of parts, a database structure which supports dynamic expansion is designed. The multi-parameter storage technology of the parts is presented, and it solves the storage problem of different numbers specification parameters of the parts in the database.4. Based on the intensively study on the assembling of parts, the storage and retrieval of the assemblies is implemented in the system according to the features of Pro/E.5. Using SQL Server 2000 to manage the modle files and specification parameters of the parts, and Using VC++.NET and Pro/toolkit as development tools, an open parts library system is built based on Pro/E, in which the user can add parts without updating and rebuilding the program.This system is embeded in Pro/E, so all function modules of it can be called from the menus of Pro/E. Relatively integrated model files of the GB parts and the generic parts is provided in the system, and users can add special parts to the library to complete it according to their own needs. The system has been used in designing works of two projects, and it greatly enhances the efficiency of product design.
