Traditional trains communicate and transmit data to the ground devices through circuits which based on the rails and train wheels. For the maglev train, there is no physical contact between the train and the rails and no rail circuit can be used. A new method must be found out to meet the need of communication between the maglev train and the ground devices. The looped-cable induction system not only can identify the function of communication and data transmission, but also can get its position and velocity information. Further more, the cost is low.Traditional looped-cable induction systems are introduced in the dissertation and their advantages and disadvantages are discussed. The disadvantages, which are poor anti-disturbance capability, blind areas, huge signal fluctuation, are unfavorable for communication. A new looped-cable induction system is designed in this paper. Based on its electromagnetic model, mutual inductance of the cable and antenna is calculated. The biggest advantage of this new looped-cable induction system is that its mutual inductance is invariable, which means the communication channel is invariable compared with the communication channel of traditional looped-cable system changed due to the train position.Communication system and position and velocity measuring system are designed based on the new construction of looped-cable separately. The framework of these systems and some key circuits are also analyzed. These systems were tested by experiments taken on the maglev track,The installation and fixing of the new looped-cable system and network setting of the communication system are also studied in the paper. The coding method of communication is designed and error control arithmetic is analyzed. The problems of how to use the new systems on long rail are also discussed.
