In this paper, a security solution for electronic government system based on internet is presented. First, the challenge and threats with which electronic government system is confronted is analyzed; secondly, security ensuring system for electronic government system is discussed; thirdly, the thoughts of classified security protection and a variety of related technology about information security are mentioned; Finally, a solution which employs the aforementioned technologies is suggested. The technologies that this solution adopts include encryption, virus defense, intrusion detection, vulnerability scan, VPN, digital signature, security auditing, firewall, uniform identity authentication and uniform permission management mechanism. Encryption ensures the security of information transmission; virus defense, intrusion detection and vulnerability scan guarantees the security of network environment; VPN is adopted for constructing a cost-effective virtual private network; centralized management and auditing of network events comes true through security auditing; access control between security region is guaranteed by firewall; uniform identity authentication warrants the convenience of user operation and security; uniform permission management mechanism avoids the abuse of privileges after information sharing. The solution is suggested base on the thinking of information protection by classified and partial method. Physically, the information is stored partially, and the access of the information is classified logically. The advantages of internet are fully utilized. This solution is cost-effective and easy to use on the spot. The cover of service is very broad and has some value of generalization and application, especially in Middle and Western Regions of China.
