Nowadays the Infobahn is taken into account all over the world and the demands for information are experiencing dramatic and swift and violent development on the basis of the application of mobile communication technologies and the advent of 3G and new multimedia technologies. Hence Fiber-Optic Communications, the core and the basis of Infobahn, become most important. Many coutries and regions have spared no effort to improve Fiber-Optic Communications technologies, thus the field of Fiber-Optic Communications reach an unprecedented development. Meanwhile, compared with other fields, Fiber-Optic Communications show significant, on which the conduction, transportation, switch and application for information working are important in the GDP and National Security. Fiber-Optic Communication is a system of huge organs, whose implements depend on each other, prompt each other and give rises to each other.The Backbone Network - the most congested part of the whole network - takes most important role in the aspect of telecommunication investment and indirectly determines the development orientation of telecommunication net in future. Both of service providers and customers, especially business customers welcome the continued deployment of fiber optic technologies toward customers, because of the prospect of using bandwidth-intensive applications that will benefit business immensely in digital communication.In previous time, I have started with the development of Fiber-Optic Communication, researched the technical foundation of Fiber-Optic Communication and the Backbone Network, compared between two structures of Fiber-Optic Communication Network combining the demand nowadays with the trend in future and analyzing aspects such as cost of net, situation of utilizing source, vability and expansibility of net, the difficulty of net configuration and the extend of nodes. On the next step, I designed the Fiber-Optic Communication backbone Network of Qingdao Mobile on the basis of acknowledge and analysis of the Network and its whole characteristics, giving attention to the good maturation, low cost, compatibility and share of SDH technological medium and sufficient adaptability to the prospect of using bandwidth-intensive and IP application.The paper studied on the technology of fiber and fiber cable, Active Optical Devices, Optical Multiplex technologies, Optical Amplification, basical components of Fiber-Optic Communication and Digital Fiber-Optic Communication, analysed technologies of Network and situation of Optical Networks nowadays, introduced how to apply Fiber-Optic Communication Network to multi-service and discussed the principals of Backbone Network, trend of development, accompanied with the whole thinking of Backbone Network, steps of designing, items of Program.
