Because of the fast increase of telecommunication network and continuousenhancement of people's requirement for telecommunication service, it's more andmore difficult to make basic maintenance of telecommunication network. Thenetwork operator hope the Operations Support Systems(OSS) can solve the problem.They hope the OSS can help them to improve the service quality, to develop newservice more quickly, to reduce the cost. Under this situation, a lot of internationalorganizations, such as IMF, ITU, IETF, OSS/J, etc, focus their mind on the research ofOSS. The intelligence maintenance technology, asthe important part of the OSS, isthe hot spot.The TMF give their research on New Generation Operation System and Software(NGOSS), the NGOSS based on the distributed component and the object-orientedtechnique. The network operators have a lot of intelligence maintenance system on thenetwork already, they are all based on 'dispatch-logic and basic-task' technique. Boththe solutions of intelligence maintenance are short of intelligence. For example, thecondition of start a task is based on the timer, it is not flexible; the system cannotmonitor and diagnose the objects; and cannot get the state of the objects, and cannotstart a task when needed.This problem reduces the scope of the usage of the intelligence maintenancetechnique, and it is the problem that we will solve here. We based on Agent-orientedsoftware development theory, designed and developed a new intelligence maintenancesystem, the main task has:1. Analyze nowadays intelligence maintenance technique's state, characteristic, disadvantage; find the problems that the target system should solved;2. Analyze nowadays Agent technique and Agent-oriented software developmenttechnique's characteristic, select the suitable solution;3. Based on MaSE method, integrated Agent architecture, designed anddeveloped the target system.4. Test and analyze the target system, and plan the next task.It was proved that the Agent-oriented intelligence maintenance system is moreflexible, expansible, and has the higher performance.
