Examination Subsystem In The Distance Education System

With the extensive applications of network technology in the education realm, the traditional examination methods are facing many important changes. To examine on the network is a good means which has a lot of superiority over the traditional examination method. It can save a great deal of manpower and material resources, improve the efficiency and quality of the examination.As the application result of the computer and network communication technology in the teaching field, it will have a great and far-reaching impact on whole education structure progressively.In this thesis, The research and realization of the examination system on Network based on J2EE model, whose background is " examination subsystem of distance education system ", a project in Henan Electric Power Training center, is mainly described.The system adopts the J2EE four-tier structure. The client level provides responds the succinct human-machine interactive interface. The Web server responds to the users'requests. The application server completes the computation and logical processing. And the DBMS provides the storage service. Further, the thesis discusses the method of technology, which can guarantees the expandability and maintainability of the system.The system has two subsystems : Teacher and student.The functions include the exam pool management, the automatical test question generation, the examination control, mark inquiry, student self-testing and automatical evaluation. This system is easy to use, can be use for an examination or testing, can practise use at ordinary times as the student. It is flexible in the testing management, various in publishing the paper, efficienct in paper-organization, automatical evaluation for subjective questions, and capable of self-testing, etc.The project was described according to the development process of the whole system. At first,the project background and the current situation of network examination are introduced.Some questions and deficiencies of the existing systems are disscused, and the system development goal are defined on this basis. Then the basic technologies and tools needed by this system are introduced, and system outline design through overall analysis is finished. Next, the detail design discusses some key technologies such as the second login,algorithm of generating paper and automatical evaluation for subjective questions.At last, system testing and running situation are presented and the existing problems and the work needing perfecting further in the system are given.The system has already passed the trying out stage, and has been used in the actual examination. The results showed it run normally, reach the expecting target basically.
