WenZi, the student of Lao-tzu, lived in the same time of Confucius. We could not know his name an native place. He inherited and developed the Lysenko of Lao-tzu. He played an important role in the development of Taoism. WENZI embodied the ideas of WenZi. WENZI was completed by WenZi and his disciples.WENZI mainly has two important edition systems, one is the Unearthed Bamboo Slip WENZI at the Bajiaolang, the other is the Presenting Edition WENZI. The Bamboo Slip WENZI is the most original edition which we can read today. Perhaps the Presenting Edition WENZI was edited on the base of the Bamboo Slip WENZI.The Bamboo Slip WENZI was written between the metaphase of the 4^th century BC and the beginning of the 3^rd century BC. Some ideas in the Bamboo Slip WENZI accord with the Unearthed Bamboo Slip LAOZI at the Guodian. The writing style of WENZI resembles the Analects of Confucius, so they were written in the same period. The edition of LAOZI which the Bamboo Slip WENZI quoted is similar to the Unearthed Bamboo Slip LAOZI at the Guodian.Between the Han Dynasty and the East Jin Dynasty the Presenting Edition WENZI came into being. The Bamboo Slip WENZI probably is curtailed from original WENZI. Any parts of the Presenting Edition WENZI have credible origins. But tow changes have taken place in the Presenting Edition WENZI, one is that "asking of King Ping" and "saying of WenZi"were changed into "asking of WenZi" and "saying of Lao-tzu", the other is that the words of "saying of Lao-tzu" appeared in the argumentation.Before Zhangzhan living in the East Jin Dynasty made comments on WENZI, there wasn't great difference between WENZI and the Presenting Edition WENZI .The changes had finished from the Bamboo Slip WENZI to the Presenting Edition WENZI. The main body of the Presenting Edition WENZI embodied the original state of WENZI. Because the literature was destroyed or lost during going around, the later trimmers processed WENZI. In the course of processing, the trimmers made their choices and sometimes several transcribers mistook the comments on WENZI for the text of WENZI.The Presenting Edition WENZI kept much elucidation on LAOZI and had great effects on HanFei. The ideas of WENZI didn't adulterate all kinds of ideas,such as Mo-tse, Confucius and so on. The ideas of WENZI was absorbed in many later ideologists.The time when WENZI came into being was earlier than that of HUAINANZI. HUAINANZI didn't plagiarized WENZI.
