Web Environment And Implementation Of The Irt-based Adaptive Testing System

Using Item Response Theory (IRT), this issue analyses the rationality and randomness of the parameters in an automated computer-generated test paper. A model of a Self-adaptive Test System (STS) in a Web-Based System is derived. We then compare differences between the abilities of tested students and show how to make the automated examination paper both robust and highly reliable in a network. A model with three structures"Browser—Web Server—SQL Server"is given here to support a Self-adaptive Test System Based on IRT. We detail the Exam Paper Generating System which is used in research for the online test and implementation of automated computer-generated test paper in for Cheng Du Radio and TV University.Exam Paper Generating System (EPGS) is designed for supporting teachers to manage test paper database, it will supply a convenient software testing environment in which teachers can perform test paper management functions.In addition, a self-adaptive network test model is established using IRT. Especially close attention is paid to the detailed design of the Self-adaptive test system's framework, to overcoming the difficulties in implementing a Self-adaptive Test System based on IRT in a web-based examination system, and to finding the most elegant design concept for developing the network management. After software testing for EPGS, we find perfect interfaces for management and performance of Automated Computer-generated Test Paper.Item Response Theory is a modern test theory (as opposed to CTT which is called Classical Test Theory). IRT requires stronger assumptions than Classical Test Theory, it is much intuitive approach to measurement once you get used to it. In IRT, the true score is defined on the latent trait of interest rather than on the test, as is the case in Classical Test Theory. The results of the Self-adaptive Test System show that Exam Paper Generating System based on IRT provides a flexible decision support Web environment for users to achieve satisfactory effects in the Self-adaptive Test System.In a word this issue introduces the Item Response Theory (IRT) in detail, analyzes the application of this theory in computerize adaptive test as well as the structure and the methodology of designing Web examination system. It focuses on discussions of overall designation and several approaches of retrieving items from database.
