Computer Aided Process Planning-CAPP system is one of the important elementsof the modern machinery manufacturing. With the widespread use of computertechnology, computer-aided design for manufacturing techniques is an inevitable trend ofthe development of enterprises.In this article, according to the demands of Yangzhou Hengxing machine factory(Yangzhou Hengxing Precision Machinery Co. Ltd,) to the CAPP system, from asystematized view, has structured a variation-based, interactive input-assistant CAPPprototype system, in which trailers can carry on the technological design andtechnological management conveniently. The study in this topic has an actual significanceto the medium and small-sized mechanical manufacturing enterprise.In this article, in the foundation of analyzing the present CAPP technologysituation,existing problems, and developing tendency, according to the characteristicof demands medium and small-sized mechanical manufacturing enterprise to CAPPsystem, made a overall design of the system, and a brief introduction to the functionalmodules of the system. The contents of the article are :①the description of the parts'information which is based on the group-technology, developed the 10 partsclassifications coding system suited medium and small-sized enterprises;②themanagement of the craft resources database which is based on the tree structure;③thevariation type technological design ,including the process database establishment ,thetechnological process production the use of process resources, the production and invokeof working procedure chart, the inquiry of the technological process, the output processreport form and so on ,constructed the key algorithm of the partial modules in thevariation type technological design;④the CAPP and PPS (Production Planning&Scheduling )integration which are based on the product process data.The system is based on Delphi7 as developing platform, SQL- Server7.0 as thedatabase, operated in the Windows platform, it integrates the country standardtechnological design and the standardized craft management, and will provide thetechnological design aided tools for the craft designers, thus will further enhance theworking efficiency of the enterprise craft department and the enterprise's overall benefit, and will speed up the enterprise's information construction.
