As an important component in the microwave and millimeter wave systems, the multipliers play a key role in the whole system. This dissertation makes a particular and extensive research in the theoretics and design of the microwave and millimeter wave multipliers. This project roots in the new project of the army product in the general arming department. The cheif purpose is to completely simulate the corresponding model multipliers of the foreign existing products of American DBS Company (including electronic character index, figure interface, configuration dimension and so on) in order to replace the desired import products in the production of the arming equipment to satisfy the customs'imperative requirement. The main work of the thesis is as follows: Setting down the circuits'scheme and choosing the parts of an apparatus. The whole multiplier circuits are realized with the foreign more mature MMIC monolithic and diode along with the passive circuits of the microstrip filter, balun and the microstrip to waveguide transition. To be specific, the basic principles and theories of multiplier are introduced and analyzed at first. And then, according to the multiplier's design notion, the circuit topology configurations are established. At the same time, computer aided designs (CAD) are carried on with a series of simulation softwares. The concrete multiplier circuits are simulated and optimized with Harmonic Balance analysis method (HB)-the method of analyzing non-liner circuits in the microwave simulation software ADS (Advanced Design System); the planar microstrip filter is designed considering the bad harmonious restrain. Firstly, the filter initial values are obtained with the microwave simulation software Ansoft designer. Then, it needs to be manually optimized in the Ansoft Ensemble; two microstrip-waveguide transition structures- microstrip probe and coaxial probe are built and optimized with the microwave electromagnetic 3-D simulation software CST Microwave Studio. And the results are validated by the electromagnetic simulation software Ansoft HFSS which is based on FET algorithm. The X band microwave doubler, Ka full-band millimeter wave doubler and Ku band microwave multiplier have been developed based on the above theoretic analysis and simulation results.Refer to the projects'desired parameters in contract, it can be realized with the excellent quality and value ratio with different circuits'schemes. According to former testing results, the actual scheme is correspondingly improved. The index parameters have been completely arrived at and exceeded the expected desire. And it has already delivered to customers for use. The active multipliers researched have a good reliability and a higher frequency conversion gain. Besides it has small work current and power loss. Some index parameters are compared with foreign parts of products and no lower than the reported level of related products in the country. What we have done has reached the reaserch objective of the microwave multiple technologies and has a certain referenced value for the domain's development.
