With the improvement of the embedded systematic hardware performance and development of relevant software engineering, embedded POS is widely used. Many enterprises and organizations have already joined in the field of application and service which are connected with POS. As a POS application platform, SUN provides J2ME (Java 2 Micro Edition) which provides a robust, flexible environment for applications running on a broad range of embedded devices; JavaPOS provides a set of application interfaces for software designers to control most of POS devices. Our project group has finished a JavaPOS application platform based on J2ME, and this paper presents the research works on the basis of this application platform.As a result of the complexity and variation of the commercial function, single POS commercial application can't meet the changeable needs. Thus, how to organize POS commercial function and make it more adaptive to different commercial needs has become an urgent problem to be solved.This thesis gives a detailed analysis of POS commercial processes according to commercial states, commercial data and commercial function. Then, this dissertation demonstrates how to use the work flow technology to accomplish a POS commercial application platform which can organize complex commercial function. At last, a retail POS commercial application is achieved based on the POS commercial application platform. This paper puts work flow technology into practice in embedded POS commercial applications and offers a platform for further development of POS applications. Also, the research theory and experience on how to design a POS product in this subject can be used as reference for other similar systems.The POS commercial application platform is proven to be flexible in design, with good performance and less resource occupancy. Based on the products, developers can quickly complete an embedded POS terminal application with better maintainability and extendibility.
