In recent years, Management Information System of new technologies develops fast, such as the web database, the object-oriented method and the role-based access control (RBAC) technique, has greatly improved the quality of the Management Information System.The thesis is based on a developing project named the research development of passenger transportation management information system for railway, which is based B/S structured and sponsored by the Institute of Computing Technology(ICT) of China Academy of Railway Sciences. The system provides the railway market sale, passenger investigation, transportation management, benefit analysis a good tool. It can enhance the safety, operation management of the basic section and implement the automation of the internal business management. It is necessary for the improvement of passenger carriage management, the work effect and reasonable resource distribution。It is the needs for improving the service quality, for establishing a good example, also a good way for us to be more competitive.Passenger transportation management information system for railway is a superior project after the railway department has been listed into the information programming. The system consisted of five parts: passenger transport management system, station management system, train business management system, passenger transport section management system and train management system. To improve the effect of passenger transport, to inform the leader with the human resource, transport status, safety, passenger flux in time from which the lead can refer and make the decision. Our goal is to transform the passenger transport from a traditional way to a informational and digital one according to the<>, in the lead of scientific developing concept, associating with the needs in daily work of railway transport tightly, widely using the advanced information tech, exert all kinds of informational resource in railway passenger transport production, management, supervision.The thesis discusses the correlative techniques of the browser/server (B/S) pattern, describes the system analysis and design. Aimed at originally client/server(C/S) pattern's limitations, the system adopts a B/S pattern. In this pattern, all programs are executed on the server part, and client part operates only by a browser, which is typically called"thin client port". Besides, the system uses a current solution which combining Tomcat, JSP and Oracle9i for developing a web server application in the Microsoft Windows environment, and which providing a valid means for developing a dynamic, intercommunication and effective web management system.
