Since the image fusion based on traditional wavelet transform is time and memory consuming, which impedes its real-time application, a novel quick image fusion algorithm based on lifting wavelet local contrast is proposed in this paper. The main results can be listed as follows: in the first part, we introduce the theory of wavelet transform and the development of image fusion; in the second part, we propose the definition of wavelet local contrast and introduce our algorithm and its main experiment results.The advantages proposed in this paper are as follows:First, in this paper traditional wavelet transform is replaced by lifting wavelet transform. The arithmetic is simple and the memory is saved.Second, the definition of local wavelet contrast is altered. The new wavelet contrast definition is more meaningful to image fusion as the coefficient selection process is based on fused image's visual sensitivity but not computed from the source image.Third, the method can distinguish the different fusion effects of low-frequency image and high-frequency image. The experimental results show the clarity and contrast of the image are improved. |
