With the development of Flat Plane Display (FPD) industry, more and more measuring equipments are needed for manufactures and sales fields. However, engineers designing FPD lack for an effective measurement method of motion artifact, and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is drafting such a standard. This study focuses on the measuring methods of FPD motion artifact based on simulation and pursuit camera ,and the evaluating methods based on 10%~90% and contrast sensitivity function(CSF).The first part of thesis simply introduces the development of FPD industry, and presents four typical FPD-Liquid Crystal Display(LCD) Plasma Display Plane(PDP) Lighting-Emitted Diode(LED), Organic Lighting Emitted Diode(OLED), and the recent researches of motion artifact are also referred. The basic measurement method of Photometric quantity and the fundamental theory of motion artifact are presented in the second part of thesis. Some influencing factors of motion artifact are introduced and some effort ways of reducing FPD motion artifact are presented, and then several recent typical methods of measuring methods are analyzed.The third part of thesis introduces and builds a motion artifact measuring system based on simulation method. In the traditional simulation method, black-white motion patterns are used as the test signals, and a fast response photodiode is used as the receiver. This kind of the simulation method can only measure black-white motion artifacts nor the color motion artifacts. In this thesis, alternate color patterns and a flash spectroradiometer(SPR-3000) are used. As SPR-3000 features full spectrum scanning and millisecond level scanning on fixed spectrum, the system can measure both black-white and color motion artifacts. We measured ten groups of motion artifacts composed of five colors and each group scanned 1024 points on 465nm,525nm and 640nm.Finally, we processed and analyzed the data.The fourth part of thesis introduces pursuit camera system. The traditional pursuit camera system uses CCD as receiver. In this design, we used SSPD as thereceiver which features faster response, higher SNR, wider dynamic range, smaller pels grain. In this design, we finished the following work: coding motion patterns, designing control system to synchronize SSPD and motion pattern, designing driving and sampling circuit, coding correlative software.Finally, the conclusion and future research direction are given.
