Since Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) is an effective method to solve the problem of large-scale complex engineering system's design, it has widely potential application in the field of aerospace engineering. A framework for MDO is the problem-solving environment that supports application of multidisciplinary design optimization, which includes hardware and software architecture. Based on the integration technology of aircraft digital design and manufacture, which is a pre-researching project raised by the National Defence Science and Technology Committee, this thesis studies the MDO software framework technology. Then it develops a web-based MDO software framework using Java, based on a Collaborative Product Commerce (CPC) system called Windchill. The framework has passed the appraisal organized by the National Defence Science and Technology Committee. The main contents of this thesis are as follows:1. On the base of analyzing requirements, this thesis develops a CAE integration framework. The framework, which includes manual module and automatic module, can not only provide distributed computing for CAE software, but also make use of old programs.2. After studying the initialization of MDO problem, this thesis develops a MDO definition and modification module with Java Applet and RMI. The module provides supports for extracting design variables and status variables from files directly.3. Then, the thesis studies MDO arithmetic. According to the actual research condition in our country, a new MDO arithmetic ~ rule and modification based optimization arithmetic is adopted in the MDO software framework. Since target function is not needed, the new arithmetic provides an adaptive solution for the design of complex engineering systems which have difficulties in building mathematics models.4. According to the arithmetic, this thesis designs a workflow, and implements it in Windchill Workflow Management System. At last, a simple example is used to test the procedure presented in this thesis. The result indicates that the system is feasible and effective.
