The design of the GPS receiver is derived from a pre-research project. The assignment of the project is to design a positioning and orientation receiver, which can satisfy the requirement of high mobility troop, such as self-propelled gun and missile forces.Firstly this thesis introduces the characterizations of the GPS's signal and the principle of GPS's positioning and orientation, then roughly describes the general design principle and method of GPS receiver, and finally, analyzes the process of research, such as the selection of the receiver, the composing of the hardware, the calculation of performance and the design of receiver circuit.The devise of this receiver is based on RF front end and DSP microprocessor. RF front end receives, magnifies and filtrates the GPS signal, and above all, converts it down to IF digital signal. The back end DSP processor is to process signal, including correlation, locking, tracking, and disposing.High accuracy and high performance are the characteristic of the receiver, which employs floating-point DSP. The receiver based on floating-point DSP is an open system platform. It is a wonderful platform for development and upgrade.
