Acoustic positioning system has been widely used in ocean scientific field. However, existing systems can hardly satisfy the application needs because either of their bulkiness and perplexing operation, or limited range and low precision. With the development of acoustics,signal processing and communication theory, as well as that of DSP,FPGA,DGPS and DSSS technology, it is possible to develop more advanced positioning systems.Active and passive acoustic positioning system uses the buoys equipped with GPS to make an underwater positioning frame. Passive positioning system solves the target's horizontal position by measurements of the DOA of target and using the bearing-only cross method, while the active one solves the position by measurements of the time delay or time delay difference of signal pulse from the cooperative target to the receivers using hyperboloid cross method. It is demanded that the measured data of each buoy be transmitted to the master computer for integrating and computing.The wireless microwave communication makes it realizable that the base station on ship do the remote control to the buoys, the buoy data be transmitted back, and the large-scale acoustic orientation be achieved. The key task of the dissertation is to fulfill the data transmission by radio and guarantee the reliability and stabilization of data communication, which involves the design and implementation of link layer, network layer and application layer protocol, as well as the design of hardware interface of DSP, FPGA and so on.The research of the dissertation lies in two parts: one is to design and implement the hardware and software for the active and passive acoustic positioning system.
