On the INTEL 80386 hardware platform with DAVICOM DM9008 as network interface controller, the author designed the NIC driver and TCP/IP protocol stack software from hardware 10 operations by referencing RFC documents and LINUX source code. The whole software is composed of ARP, IP, ICMP, TCP, UDP, DNS, TELNET protocol. Finally 4 TELNET connections run simultaneously and smoothly in the space of 40K ROM and 32K RAM. The paper describes the cource of the development of the networking software in the embedded product environment and the improvements based on the specific requirement.
