In order to improve the performance of the thermal imaging system significantly, the real-time thermal image processing algorithms which can be realized with hardware easily are introduced, the hardware design and programming of the system are accomplished, and the algorithms are realized with the hardware.In this paper, the 2-dimension time delay integral algorithm is used for improving the SNR of thermal images. The motion compensation algorithm based on target is given, the image sharpening algorithm based on blur theory is proposed, and these techniques can improve the image quality. De-redundancy grey level compression algorithm is used to realize image grey level compression. All these algorithms work well in the system.DSP and FPGA are used as core calculate unit of the image processing system hardware. This part is designed to aim at project application and realize the subject. The system consists of calculate block, memory block, display driver block and communication interface block. In the system software design, parallel processing technique and instruction pipe-line technique are used to arrange software algorithm process and optimize the codes scientifically. The image processing algorithms mentioned above are realized in this system.
