Modern Museum Originated Analysis

Chinese museum enterprise was produced in the process of Chinese society's modernization. In the middle period of 19th century, along with the open of Chinese entrance by the western big power of firm ship and advanced artillery, the western museum began to be introduced to China. Meanwhile, along with the frequent communication between China and western countries, there were more and more people studying and visiting abroad to Europe, US and Japan. They got to know a lot about the museums in those countries through their visit. And then they brought the museum ideas into our country. In the reform movement in the end of 19th century, founding museums became a very important measure of "opening people's wisdom" advocated by the Chinese reform persons. However, as a result of Qing government's corruption, this action wasn't put into practice for a long time. During that time, some western people had brought museums into China. They opened some museums in China, which still couldn't be considered to be true Chinese museums. Until 1905, our country managed itself the first integrity modern museum-Nantong Museum. Only then the new chapter of Chinese museum enterprise started. The establishment of Nantong Museum opened "advanced general mood" in the history of Chinese museum, which made remarkable contribution to the Chinese museum development.This thesis makes a deep analysis on the origin of Chinese modern museums and explains the politics, economy and culture at that time.
