With the rapid development of the computer technology, the multimedia technology, the embedded processor technology and the networking communication technology, the Embedded Network Video Monitoring System is becoming a trend for monitoring systems because of its advantages such as good stability, small volume, resource saving and convenience.A new embedded network video monitoring system based on Web is proposed in this thesis. The architecture of this monitoring system is designed using the embedded processor technology with the trait of internet. It is composed of a front networking camera subsystem and a long-distance monitoring client subsystem. It is shown that deep integration of video process and web servers can be achieved efficiently in the front networking camera subsystem with the embedded processor and networking communication technology. The design of the long-distance monitoring client subsystem is the key part of this thesis. It presents two types of remote monitoring client software based on B/S and C/S architecture. Both of them are designed and implemented using the component technology and object oriented design (OOD). The management and the control of networking cameras are encapsulated into the ActiveX components. In addition, attributes, methods and events of the components are defined at the same time according to the requirement of the functions of the monitoring system. This software of the monitoring client subsystem is implemented by these methods of the ActiveX component's interface. The section of system implementation will describe the use case design, the class design, sequence design and the layout of the interfaces in details.The architecture of this embedded networking video monitoring system based on Web is more universal than the other systems based on PC. Moreover, this thesis introduces two modes of long-distance monitoring client software based on B/S and C/S, therefore the system obtains the ability of two types of monitor with better usability. The design of the long-distance monitoring client software is designed based on ActiveX component technology, so that it is pretty easy to upgrade.
