IP is the brief name of Internet Protocol. IP phone is the telephone business that is delivered on the network that is defined by IP protocol. It makes use of IP network for the medium of speech delivery to realize a new communication technology for speech communication. It is the a new digital delivery technology on Inernet. It is a kind of telephone application that uses the TCP/IP protocol on the IP network. This kind of application includes of the PC-PC,the PC-Phone and the Phone-Phone,which has businesses about speech business on Internet or Intranet, fax business(real time and storage/transmit),IVR on the web(interactive speech response),etc. Moreover, the application still includes E-mail,the video meeting, real time fax, etc.Firstly, the thesis introduces the technology foundation of the IP phone from packet communication technology, speech signal processing technology, the basic construction of and the principle of IP phone. Secondly, the ARP protocol,IP protocol,ICMP protocol and UDP protocol of UDP/IP protocols, about the whole core technologies of IP phone terminal, are done extensive but in-depth analysis. On the basis of the above technology foundation, a IP phone terminal, on Philiphs LPC2138, is designed in the thesis.the design of hardware part and software part ,especially about the software part, are detailedly discussed. In the dicussion about the software part, the design of the phone control module, the speech communication module, the speech collecting/playing module, the ethernet processing module, the flash solidfying module, the main control module and the tiny UDP/IP protocols module are in-depthly made discussions. Finally, the IP phone terminal is made correlative tests for guaranteeing the accuracy of the system.
