Compared to any other HMD, the new style and full color LCOS (liquid crystal on silicon) helmet micro display has the most developing prospect today.How to improve the three primary colors LED light source cavity , polarizing beam splitter system of civil LCOS HMD is discussed in this paper. In addition, a new eyepiece optical system with wide FOV(field of view),big exit pupil,long eye relief is also designed by an optical design program named ZEMAX. The result is very successful. A new helmet micro display, which is full color and low price, has been invented.The paper includes eight chapters. The first chapter introduces the conception of micro display, the principle of virtual display and the structure, the function and developmental tide of helmet micro display.The second chapter introduces the structure, principle of full color LCOS helmet micro display that is considered most prosperous in future.The third chapter shows the display styles of LCOS helmet micro display and the reason why choose the single eye, direct-view style in this paper.The fourth chapter provides all kinds of performance parameters and design demands about the special full color LCOS helmet micro display.The fifth chapter introduces how to improve the light source cavity, polarizing beam splitter of the civil LCOS helmet micro display and the reasons.
