The flat panel display (FPD) has many special advantages, such as thin thickness, light weight, low drive voltage, no X-ray. At present, FPD is very important in the display area, with the representative of LCD, PDP and OLED.The competition ability of various FPD primarily lies on price, brightness, life, resolution and so on. Therefor, investigations of improving these performances have been carried through in many domestic and oversea research organizations. Due to effects of these studies, the development of FPD technology is at a fast speed. On the other hand, because of the limits of materials and process. The development of displays is restricted. This subject is brought forward in such background. This dissertation analyzes the principle of several kinds of primary FPD through consulting with many data and literature and considers improving the driving circuit, in the last puts forward a arithmetic of virtual display based on multiplexing of pixels. to improve the resolution of FPDs. It is proved that this method is feasible through experiments.As the terminals of information, low resolution can't meet the requirements for high definition and digital. Especially when it is used as the television terminal, if the matrix resolution of displays is much lower than the spatial resolution of the TV image, pucker confusion effect will come into being , which affects the display results seriously..The traditional method of increasing resolution is to make the electrodes smaller and denser, which is usually at the expense of high price. Without changing the original screen pixels structure, the new approach presented in this dissertation is a arithmetic about virtual display based on multiplexing of pixels of array-based color FPD ,which will raise the white color resolution in horizontal plane by two times. Thus, we can acquire three times resolution at the original display screen whose resolution is much lower.
