Frame Computer-aided Identification System Developed

In this thesis, a technique of image processing and its application in vehicle frame VIN number identification is demonstrated. The two important parts of the technique are the image digitization algorithm and the image comparison algorithm.The image digitization algorithm is used in the registering of vehicles, for setting up the image messages of vehicle frame VIN number, it includes the image of vehicle frame VIN number and the message of data of coordinate system.The image comparison algorithm is used to the check the vehicle's validity, it carried out the messages of image comparison, then do comparison. The messages of image comparison include the data of coordinate system of original image and checking image. With the same algorithm, we can get two vehicle frame VIN number images from different sources to compare. In the image comparison algorithm, a digitized image from other sources is compared to images in the database with overlapping coordinate systems. (Image mating) The coinciding and non-coinciding parts between images are marked with different color.With the image process technique mentioned above, a visual result is provided to support vehicle frame recognition.
