We can get sampling points of real objects' surface by using 3D laser scanner. The data of these sampling points are called unorganized cloud points and we can reconstruction the real surface of objects from this kind of data. Compare with traditional modeling ways this methord using no-touching measure technology. With 3D laser scan technology we can get faster modeling speed, higher precision and better third dimension than traditional ways. 3D laser scan and modeling technology is developing fast since 1980s of the last century. Today it has been put in application in many fields.This paper summarizes key technology of cloud points processing which includ registration of multiple range cloud points, triangulation, simplification and multiresolution analysis of models.The arithmetics of simplification and triangulation are always need information of A'-nearest neighbors of cloud points but traditional K -nearest neighbors searching arithmetics' efficiency are not high enough to deal with data type of cloud points. This paper proposes two fast K -nearest neighbors searching arithmetics: parameter adjustable single axes srarching arithmetic and arithmetic based on Morton-code of cloud points. We use these two arithmetics to simplify cloud points and get good results.We summarize the development of software and hardware which are used to sample 3D surface information of real objects. By using type Riegl LMS-Z210i laser scanner we get cloud points data and then we make textured polygon model from cloud points. We analyze advantages and disadvantages of 3D laser csan technology especially in application of sculpture and architecture fields.
