This thesis centers on the issue of surface reconstruction in graph division, parameterization and construction from unorganized points, contour points and triangle meshes. When concern with the contour points, pick up the points on the boundaries of contours, use Coons method to build up base surface from the boundary curves, split up the base surface vertically and horizontally into grids and project the grid points onto contours by point-projection method, interpolate these grid points to obtain continuous NURBS surface. When concern with the unorganized points, data partition and define the boundary curves from a serial of planes, use Coons or skinning method to construct base surface, use the parameterization method and surface reconstruction for the base surfaces to obtain a serial of patches, modify control points from the patches in the neighborhood to construct the geometric continuous NURBS surface. When concern with the surface reconstruction from triangle meshes. Use the sharp feature detection and discrete curvature estimation method to segment the triangle meshes and make the boundary curves, then use the parameterization method to make NURBS surface patches use the triangle meshes are segmented, finally modify control points from the patches in the neighborhood to construct the geometric continuous NURBS surface. The algorithms in this paper are proved practical and efficient in our prototype system.
