Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a newly developed wireless communication network without any fixed network infrastructure. It consists of mobile nodes equipped with wireless transmitters and receivers and can be dynamically established. As the demand on the wireless communication increases, the network has attracted wide interests in industries and academic community.Since the MANET is powered with life-limited batteries, it is critical to save the energy in MANET operation and management. This thesis mainly discusses the MANET protocols and algorithms with energy-saving performance.We firstly describe principle of MANET network and the related techniques. Then energy-saving performance of typical routing protocols (DSDV,TORA,AODV,DSR) is discussed. Simulations show that the DSR protocol has the energy-saving advantages over others. Finally, after thorough analyses of power-control protocols, we propose a dynamic source routing algorithm with energy-saving (ESDSR). Simulation results show that the proposed ESDSR can consume the less energy than other related protocols. In addition, the ESDSR can increase the network throughout and prolong the network life. |
