First this thesis started from the economic foundation produced by the story-like tendency of TV news, and demonstrated the inevitability of this tendency .Just as existence determines consciousness, and economic basis determines superstructure, so the origin of the story-like tendency of TV news( belong to superstructure) is the entertainment economics which is thriving in recent years. Secondly, from the point of view of the press' working in market, spectators' psychological demand and cultural ideas, and so on, it illustrated the necessity of this tendency. Influenced by western ideas about TV and western medium group, and as a result of governmental institution's reform, China 's TV institution is pressed to the unexpected market.Consequently, TV institution has to obey the laws of market economics, and to emphasize customers' request.In other words, TV institution is not only a cultural institution but also a commercial institution. It indicates that our cultural TV conceptions have transformed from "governmental management" to "marketing management", from "propagating" to"communicating". At the same time, it introduced successful experiences and programs about story-like TV news in foreign countries. Three main American commercial TV networks possess their own famous TV news programs: 60 Minutes in CBS, Dateline in NBC, 20/20 in ABC, and Primetime Live, etc., among which 60 Minutes is the most successful, representative and influential one to Americans. Next, based on theories of news narratology and combined with TV press' peculiar feature communication, it analyzed the essential compositions of story-like TV news, and strategies in editing story-like TV news, such as design for plots and reappearing scene. Finally, by a case study about successful story-like TV news, this thesis pointed out disadvantages in the course of developing story-like TV news, and concluded that maintaining a clear mind and appropriate principles would guarantee a prosperous prospect for story-like TV news.
