Measurement Study Of Network Behavior

As the Internet grows in scale and complexity, Man should hold network behavior as a whole and find network rules。In these ways ,we will have a kind of ability to forecast the future network and improve quality of services as well as decrease network congestion. These play an important role in network design , planning and management and operation.The measurement of network is the base of the study of network behavior, In this paper ,the detail of network measurement are discussed ,which include metric, methods , infrastructure and measurement tools. And in the paper we discuss several technologies of analyzing network behavior, especially behavior of wireless networks. Then the characteristics of a large-scale network behavior measurement platform is pointed out.During research on application of network behavior measurement, we discuss two parts: 1.add technologies of information hiding into large-scale network behavior measurement platform;2.modeling the network behavior in OPNET environment. And we discuss three topics, including network traffic, network intrusion simulation and wireless network.In the end, This paper summarize the work and point out the investigation direction of the future.
