Disasters are just like the sword of Damocles in ancient Greece. The history of human civilization is filled with all kinds of struggles against the nature.Nowadays, the study of disaster emergency and rescue techniques are drawing more and more attention all over the world. This paper "The Mathematic Study of Ultrasonic life Detection and the Preliminary Design of Ultrasonic Life Detector" is funded by the National "Ten Fifth" Key Science and Technology Project "Research on Earthquake Life Search and Location Technology" and Sichuan province fundamental research project "The Theory and Method Study on Disaster Life Search and Rescue".As a part of the project, this paper is mainly focused on the application study of ultrasonic life detector after disaster. Firstly, the paper studied the basic transmit properties of ultrasonic, and then a mathematical model of ultrasonic life detector was founded. Through theory analysis and Matlab data simulation, the frequency of ultrasonic detection was figured out, and the feasibility of using ultrasonic to fulfill life detection after disasters was demonstrated. All the studies above provide theoretical proof and data reference for hardware design. During the development of the hardware a lot of newly technologies were applied, such as DSP technology, CPLD technology, FIR digital filter technical, etc. After testing, the result shows that all the functional modules in the sample device work well. But further iterative experiments and improvements are needed to achieve a better result.
