Because the plastic optic fiber(POF) have many advantage in short distance communication, such as fine flexibility, connect easy , cost low and so on. In the field of sensing, compared with the silicca optical fiber(SOF),the POFs have high sensitivity ,the range of measurement is big. So the plastic optical fiber more and more is valued by people, it has the quite considerable potential market and the application prospect.As a result of the plastic optical fiber itself characteristic, the POF is used as the transmission material in short distance communication , has demonstrated the huge superiority in the recent years , thereupon the plastic optical fibre access network is an important developing direction of optical access network of future.The second chapter first to make the comparison among the copper wire , the silica fiber and the plastic optical fiber , pointed out the plastic optical fiber is better in the short distance communication, then introduced the development course of POF in the communication filed, finally proposed the plan scheme of the plastic optic fibre access network of a kind of building .Before plastic optical fiber widespread application, each kind of plastic optical fiber coupler must be used surely , At present the important method to manufacture the plastic optical fiber coupler is fused elongated taper. If adopt this kind of method ,the conversion efficiency between the core modes and the cladding modes is low. One of the methods to solve that is. The third chapter introduced the experiment of thermal pre-elongated taper on the POF.Through experiment repeatedly, the paper proposed the good parameter of plastic optical fiber thermal pre-elongated taper, and give some test and analysis on the thermal pre-elongated taper plastic optical fiber.The rectangle plastic gratings are widely used for multiplexing/demultiplexing in the WDM system. The most simple and feasible means is to adopt the mould pressing technology. The fourth chapter introduced the experiment of fused silica grating template mould pressing to duplicate the rectangle plastic gratings. Through research discovery the surface quality to be good, the performance fine rectangle plastic diffraction gratings.
