HSDPA means High Speed Downlink Packet Access, which is a new technology proposed by 3GPP. HSDPA is written in Release5 to increase transmit speed in certain time. As researchers found that the amount of data between downlink and uplink is unequal, and the former one has a larger amount than the latter one. This paper mainly does research about HSDPA system in NodeB of WCDMA, including design of system architecture, analysis performance of physical layer based on DSP chip, and scheduling algorithm of MAC layer.In common condition, before HSDPA technology was added in protocol, most company and institute researching in WCDMA have implemented the whole basic WCDMA system, including RNC and NodeB. So in the following research, we should consider about how to implement HSDPA techonology with least change of old system, especially for base-band board in NodeB which is the kernel part of data processing in physical layer. A method that adds least hardware to reach high speed performance is more expected. Based on an existed WCDMA system, the author planed system architecture of HSDPA, and analysis function division and modeling implementing. This design devides HSDPA function into each DSP module, for example, scheduling algorithm of MAC layer can be carried out in a new DSP chip, and new thechonology of physical layer can be carried out in exsisting DSP chip.HARQ, AMC and multi-code in HSDPA have replaced the OSVF and power control technology in Release99 protocol. In a short time, the UEs who are near to NodeB can be allowed to transfer more data with some higher modulation method. It increases the throughput of certain UEs, as well as the throughput of a cell. The analysis of physical layer performance is mainly about HARQ and AMC. First discuss the implemention of physical layer. Then in front to simulation results, we can find their advantages in cell throughput and BER or FER.Scheduling algorithm research wants to find a proper method to manage the resource of HS-DSCH, and increase the thoughput but more equally.
