VLSI physical design is an important step in VLSI design process. Integrated circuit industry is progressing rapidly in deep sub-micron technology ,which brings us great challenges for the available tools of electronic design automation especially in the field of physical design. Under this background the dissertation is intended to develop some algorithms for VLSI physical design detailed routing.The main contributions of this dissertation are summarized as follows:A novel multi-layer detailed routing approach based on a new combined layer assignment model is proposed in section 3. As a supplement to traditional detailed routing model it researches on detailed routing problem from a new point of view .Using this detailed routing model can easily handle the cycle constraints in channel routing and interconnections of circuit modules which don't border upon by transferring nets from layer to layer. By similar methods, channel area can be transformed into an ideal algorithm model to meet used channel routing algorithm and some error of global routing can also be amended. An optimization algorithm based on the above-mentioned combined layer assignment model is designed and verified through experiments. Results of simulation demonstrate that our algorithm is promising in VLSI detailed routing.In deep sub-micron technology, the scale of integration and the degree of complexity of circuit increase rapidly, it is necessary and feasible to adopt Non-Manhattan model for detailed routing in VLSI physical design. Aiming at the current pop point a novel Non-Manhattan OTC router is proposed in section 4. According to the routing algorithm of channel area the new OTC router selects nets on cell by using net segment valid controlling column technology , deep searching to column density technology and utilization of vacant terminals technology.
