E-commerce System Based On Xml / Web Services

The development of E-commerce is correlative with economy and information technologies. The technology of early E-commerce is EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) based on VAN (Value-Added Network) and based on static web page. But both the traditional data integration methods and the traditional distributed computing technologies (CORBA, DCOM, etc) have some problems which are hard to be solved, such as the remote information exchange, communication between different applications on the heterogeneous platforms and going through the firewall transparently. So,it is necessary to look for a new dynamic E-commerce application constructing.In nature, E-commerce is a modern business mode that transmission and exchange of business data through network and manually or automatically processing data. It plays an important role that standardizing data model during the data transmission and exchange. XML can meet the requirement of data integration because it can define itself and can be expanded. At the same time, the technology of Web Services can solve the problems of inter-platform, firewall, and so on.The paper expatiates on the theories and applications of XML and Web Services. And it brings forward a new E-commerce application model that combines well strong transport capability of Web Services and agility of XML. The model implements new E-commerce application architecture.With SOAP as the communication method on services, the system can be expanded and be applied on the heterogeneous platforms. Business data is the core of E-commerce. The data integration shields the differents of heterogeneous data sources, and realizes the integration logic through parsing XML documents. Besides, data can go through the firewall transparently because the wrapper is based on Web Services. This advantage has facilitated greatly data exchanging between commerce enterprises.
